We are recruiting for a CAD/CAM Programmer to join a well-established manufacturing company based in Bedford. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in sheet metal manufacturing and a good understanding of CAD/CAM programming to join a supportive and experienced team.
The Role
Working closely with the design and production teams, you will be responsible for preparing technical drawings, CNC programmes and production documentation to support efficient manufacturing.
Key responsibilities:
- Creating and modifying SolidWorks models and drawings for sheet metal manufacturing.
- Generating, checking and optimising CNC programmes and nesting layouts.
- Preparing and maintaining production documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings and technical drawings.
- Reviewing DXF files, checking dimensions and ensuring designs are suitable for manufacture.
- Maintaining CNC programmes, standard parts libraries and production records.
- Supporting production teams with technical queries and manufacturing improvements.
- Carrying out quality checks to ensure accuracy and manufacturing standards are met.
- Working closely with design, production and commercial teams.
We are looking for someone with:
- Previous experience in sheet metal manufacturing
- Experience in CAD/CAM or CNC programming within a manufacturing environment.
- Good working knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCAD or TruTops Boost.
- Understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, including laser cutting, CNC punching, guillotines and press brakes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with CNC nesting, BOMs and ERP systems would be advantageous.
Days of work - Monday - Friday
